Yesterday I submitted my project proposal via the online University submission system at http://www.network-research-group.org/studentprojects/

I also contacted Chris Speed with the proposal, outlining of my objectives, aims and some initial inspirations and the general feel of my idea to get some feedback and thoughts on supervising the project.

The Project

My aim is to create a rich multimedia application using the relatively new and user experience enhancing technology Adobe Flex, that will allow access to a range of information about cities around the globe on the go.

This application will be online based and accessible via personal computers and PDAs, as opposed to those such as static points with restricted information found in city centres etc. The general idea is that it will be a source of information on major cities and tourist spots around the globe, allowing for access to a wide range of maps, points of interest, cafes, bars, parks etc and multimedia interaction will be made possible (through various media, video clips, audio, images, interaction, messaging and general information) whilst incorporating a community aspect via ratings and comments and the like. This will allow for peple to find things to do and places to visit according to their personal needs. It will also accomodate for recording experiences via video and audio. It will act as a multimedia forum that is built in to the application in a wide range of ways. This is all then therefore shared via the application.

Attached is a copy of the initial proposal – please read this for a full description of the project
