IDAT311 – Digital Scripting Project 1

I wanted to get to grips with the Flash Media server a bit and to do that I decided to create a little app that allows you to record webcam in one swf and play it back in another. Id like to develop this further by allowing it to run from one swf with button controls. It can also easily be modified to stream live footage

Idat311 – Digital Scripting Project

I have a couple of ideas for this project and I think its going to be very interesting to work on and Im very keen to develop my actionscripting skills with this.

1) My first idea is developing something ive worked on in my spare time which is a small application that responds to key presses (on the keyboard) with graphics and sounds, a type of “creative communication” if you like.

Id like to build on this by tidying the code and redesigning everything, as well as this I would make it multi user and allow creative conversations to take place with graphics (letters) appearing on the screen and dissapearing. In essence its a fun chat application.

2) The second idea is to build a live webcam chat application.

3) And the final option is to build an advanced chat application. This would allow users to move around a character in a “world” and chat to other people online by walking up to them and initiating a conversation. I think this would be a great interactive application but it is going to be quite a heavy amount of work considering my current knowledge of actionscript.

The Idat311 module focuses on scripting in digital media, mainly using flash and actionscripting, I am required to build “something that does something”. Below is an image of my initial brainstorm for ideas for this project.
